Want to learn to use your Athletic Training skills to help athletes grow? Looking for a way to apply your faith to your profession?
Many athletic trainers who follow Jesus struggle to apply their faith in the context of their athletic training role. Perhaps for you, it results in frustration or a lack of joy on the job. Or perhaps you’ve never considered how your faith might impact your work, but now you are curious. At the end of the day, you do know that you want to grow in your professional skills, learn how to serve with Christ at your center, share your faith, and experience the gospel through athletic training.
The UTC Athletic Training Program is a great next step for you.
The UTC Athletic Training Program is designed to take Certified and Student Athletic Trainers to the next step in their spiritual journey with Christ. At each UTC there is a group of athletic trainers who serve, grow, and experience Christ together while on the job. ATs play a key role in the execution of a successful UTC while also experiencing a deep spiritual investment from UTC staff, interns, and campers. The UTC Athletic Training Program Curriculum has been developed specifically to help ATs apply their faith to their work environment.
We are looking for at least 4 Certified Athletic Trainers and 4 Student Athletic Trainers for each UTC location.

Before camp starts our Sports Performance Staff (with UTC Leadership) will identify one Certified Athletic Trainer as the Head Athletic Trainer for that location. This person will be asked to attend two brief orientations prior to camp if they are attending for the first time. One meeting will be with UTC staff, another with only the medical team camp director(s).
-
No, the camp has a full medical kit at your disposal for the week along with ample supplies to restock if necessary. You will take inventory the first day on site and if you realize you need anything we can make a run prior to camp starting. We do recommend bringing a small fanny pack though if you prefer to have a smaller bag on you alongside your med kit.

All athletes are required to either submit their health history, current sports physical form, and family insurance via SportWare. The health history forms can be filled out at registration, but preferably uploaded online prior to registration. AIA holds participant insurance that can act as secondary insurance if the circumstance qualifies.

Yes, if you would like to view the EAP for a location, let us know using the “send us an email” link above and we will connect with you.
-
You will provide medical service during two 2-hour blocks each day: One in the morning and one in the afternoon where athletes will scrimmage each other.
You will also host one hour of office hours after lunch, where athletes can see you for concerns.
Outside of these hours, you are off medically.
We encourage you to take part in the other aspects of camp and rest when needed.
-
The camp is casual. You are allowed to wear T-shirts and athletic shorts as long as they are appropriate length and none of the graphics are offensive. Polos or professional attire are not required.
-
Unfortunately due to liability, we are unable to use the campuses’ ATR thus the only modalities we have available are ice, myofascial release, and any manual therapies that don't require equipment. The majority of your medical time will be spent diagnosing.

ARRIVAL
Although it’s not mandatory, we highly encourage Athletic Trainers to consider arriving a day before the campers arrive on Sunday.
ATs in the past have appreciated the extra time to settle in, take inventory of medical supplies, and grow relationships with other staff prior to campers’ arrival.
If you are unable to come early, we still encourage you to arrive as early as your schedule allows for ample preparation. If you are accepted, confirm expected arrival times with the UTC location director or Head AT.
DEPARTUREYou are free to depart as early as Saturday afternoon after the campers depart, though we’d love for you to stay until Sunday morning to join our staff celebrating what happened the past 10 days.
*These are preferred days and times that can be flexible if you have issues that arise. Consult Head AT as the camp date gets closer.
